$55.00

Our flagship wine continues to evolve as our understanding of flavour and quality develops. Barrel-fermented with a wild yeast in the traditional French manner.

Delicate gooseberry and nutty flavours with a softly textured finish. The most textured one yet! One to savour.

  • Excellent with seafoods, chicken, duck, pork or turkey.
  • Avoid refrigeration for long periods.
  • Serve at about 10 degrees (important!).
  • 12.6% Alcohol

92/100 – James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion

“Nicholson River Winery in Victoria’s Gippsland area produces, among other wines, a Chardonnay whose quality in its best years is little short of supreme.”

–  Robin Bradley (2007)

–  5 gold stars  –

  1. “Glowing straw yellow. Peach and malt flavours are given relief by fresh, juicy apple. It’s rich to start but as it works its way along the palate it becomes finer and mealier. Indeed the final impression is one of sophistication. Screwcap. 12.6% alcohol. Rating 92. To 2020 $45 CM”
James Halliday, The Australian Wine Companion

  2. This has won GOLD at the 2017 Sommelier’s Wine Awards, London.
Judges noted: “A unanimous choice for our tasting panel, and ‘a wine of a different level, with great oak use and freshness of fruit, golden apple, pineapple and vanilla notes’, according to team leader Laurent Richet MS, with Tate Catering’s Hamish Anderson noting ‘lemon peel, wax and honey, an old school feel with toast and cream, depth of flavour and generosity’. Agustin Trapero of Avenue found ‘complex ripe mango and mandarins, with white chocolate notes and yoghurt texture’. ‘Huge depth and intensity, such a lovely mouthfiller, fab wine,’ concluded Richard Brooks of Caroline Catering.”
